Professor (Retired) Mike Corcoran
Mike is a former DRA employee, working in a tiny portacabin behind L-Block at Malvern from 1994 – 2000 before moving to Dstl.
Mike has 50 years’ experience in intelligence and security operations and analysis, primarily military, with UK special duties organisations including BRIXMIS. He was in the British Army for over 20 of those years. Since 1994 he has been actively involved in developing and applying the broad spectrum of Cyber and Influence Operations and in 2007 co-founded the Dstl Cyber & Influence Centre to direct and manage research in this area.
Mike retired from Dstl in September 2014, following a second secondment to CPNI (now NPSA & NCSC) to assist in developing their future research programme. In addition to a range of academic posts he was until recently a Senior Nuclear Security Officer with the International Atomic Energy Agency where he lectured internationally on the security of nuclear facilities. His specific areas of expertise are Cyber Strategy and Targeting, Computer Network Operations involving Influence, and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection.
